PERSONAL STATEMENT

 

Dear Prospective Coach,

      My name is Franco De Luca, I'm 6'3, 210 pounds. I've played tackle football since the 4th grade. I was invited to play for Team Illinois and got offered the starting QB job in the 8th grade. Freshman year I was the starting QB for the junior varsity team before not playing football for my next 2 years, because of personal things that happened during that time frame. When I got back on the football field in my senior season, I had lost the starting QB position, but the coach had me play WR, LB and all positions on Special Teams. For those performances, I was awarded all-conference player of the week . Going on to my first year of college, I attended Santa Barbara community college; redshirted as a WR, and by the next year I was awarded all-conference player of the week, and most improved player by all my coaches and teammates alike. In my second year, I was given again the opportunity to start at QB for the last 5 games of the season, and I had a strong showing considering that I went into camp as a wide receiver. After my Juco career, I attended the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, where I competed for the starting job at QB before my season-ending injury. I went on to make a strong comeback and was awarded starting QB going into summer training camp. I then got an offer to play under Chris Chambers at the University of Fort Lauderdale where I started competing for the starting QB job again before switching over to starting linebacker and all special teams. I then found myself starting as a TE/Slot WR as well as a linebacker and all special teams. I even was the starting punter for our last 2 games. This is my senior season coming up and I'm ready to contribute and add a weapon to any team that needs one. I consider myself an athlete and I won’t shy away from any obstacles and challenges presented to me. I’m a leader by nature. My work ethic is second to none. I’m the first one in and the last one out. Practicing 365 days a year to me is more of “a want then a must”. I am a team player . I am willing to play any position you need me too and I can excel at every single one of them. It’s not arrogance it’s just simply confidence. I'm ready to give it my all and give myself the best opportunity to play at the next level. I would like to be given the opportunity to fulfill my studies and pursue my dream of playing football.
